Hey gang,
Anyone have any news whether the new Friday the 13th is gonna be good? I hear it's a remake of the first 4 movies, which makes me think it will be good.

I've actually been following it on Bloody-Disgusting. It looks pretty good. All the standard trademarks of the series but with all the loose ends tied up. It's even got a big thing about WHY he dawns the mask and all that. So far, honestly the only thing at all that pisses me off? They made him look too much like my portrayal of Chuck. They even gave the same damn reason for the coat. They liked the way it flowed when he moved. Coat plus long hair...

...like I needed ANOTHER reason for people to tell me I'm ripping off a dated idea.

Either way I'm still gonna go see it. Room mate's already asking me if I want to go see it with him. Word has it, if this movie does well? They're going to start pushing for Freddy vs Jason II.

That's what I was hoping to hear.  Grin A shame about the coat though. He has long hair? That kinda bugs me...he was almost bald!

Always been a Jason fan. Been debating picking up the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash graphic novel.

The comics are AWESOME! I loved them!! It's a shame Sam Rami wouldn't approve the plot when they where trying to make it a movie. Aaaand, he's still bald, or partly... maybe balding? Hard to see behind the mask, but he's got long strands of hair coming off the back of his head and in some of the promo shots it looks like he has long hair. Maybe it's going to be patches of hair or something...? You can see it best in the action figure they're about to release.

i got to see this one on the 13th...

it was good in it's own right, but the only two gripes I had about it were that 1) it was predictable and 2) the theater had it at a nearly deafening volume.  Most definitely a worthwhile rental once it's out on DVD.

Well, I'm kinda bored, I mean, what's the use? Those films already exist, don't they? The script writers must have problems with finding new ideas.  A nightmare on elm street will be directed again, without Robert Englund, unbelievable!
I'll wait for the DVD to be out to watch those.

I remember reading the reason Sam didn't do it is that he said Ash would have to win, but that doing it that way would be lame. Or something. I remember seeing [what looked like] a new action figure, but one of the eye sockets showed part of the skull.

MADNESS!

Yeah, Sam Rami did a cop-out and wussed out of a FvJvA movie. The story's changed each time it's been told. First it was "Ash would have to win," then it was "I'd have to direct it," followed by "I'd rather do ED4," and now even that's been shot down. As Bruce Campbell himself said to the question of 'will there be an Evil Dead 4?', "No. I think there should be an end to everything. I mean, did anyone really want Indiana Jones 4? The answer is no. I've taken a poll in about seven theaters now. Of 300 people, three hands go up. You are bound to disappoint. I would rather disappoint with a brand new original movie. People worship Army Of Darkness, and God bless them for it. It's a beautiful thing. The movie bombed when it came out, and not many people are aware of that. Twenty years later, the thing has picked up speed, and it's on American Movie Classics now. That was a long time ago, and whatever we do next will always be compared to Army Of Darkness, and I don't see how we can win. You make that movie, and I can tell you the quote right now, "Oh, it's not quite as good as Army Of Darkness." Then we would have gone through immense physical pain and anguish to bring something out that ultimately disappointed. That's really not what I'm into these days."  Cry

And yeah... they've been going on about the Nightmare remake for awhile now. That's partly because of what Robert Englund's been saying; "I wouldn’t mind playing a cameo; it would be interesting to see if I could play the dream psychiatrist, I have heard that there is an interesting script regarding a prequel to the original going around. But lets face it I’m not a kid anymore; I have done a variety of films in many genres. I came out of that makeup after 10 years, and after I did a whole bunch of different films I did Freddy vs. Jason and have been real busy since. I could probably don the makeup, but they would certainly need a stunt double for the action stuff. I’m only good for about one take; then I get kind of sore."

It's a sad day when our heroes feel they're too old to play the roles that made them famous again. Still, it's better than ol' Rick Morranis telling them he couldn't return as a VOICE in Ghostbusters: The Video Game because he's RETIRED FROM ACTINGAngry

True, but he could not want to do it for a number of reasons. Overall, I don't care, the comic is enough for me.

He didn't do it because he's super rich now, and wants to be a lazy bum! Tongue

Ironically I just watched that last night!! Great movie, far better than I expected. It was kinda odd to see Jason walking around as a calculative killer who chains people up and methodically kills them, but it's a really good movie that's worth watching. They also make it a point that the next movie could bring back the more standard less-intelligent Jason, but I'll leave the details out until you guys get off your butts and watch it.

I recommend the uncut version, although that's a bad pun in and of itself, ain't it?

I have it on DVD, and I really enjoy it. The only things that seems kinda off is that Jason apparently has super speed off-screen (faster than he ever had in the other movies), and he chained up the person he thought was his mom.
